Exciting. But not for the skittish or feint hearted. Challenging for older folks. Folks over she 45-50 should rethink the climbing, jumping,

This was a great tour. A great hike up the jungle and we got to see 10 different waterfalls. Our guides, Josue & Wilfredo were awesome, very nice & very knowledgeable. They explained different parts of nature along the way. On the way back we stopped at a Costa Rican restaurant for authentic food, the food was great. I would highly recommend this !

Pablo & Josue we’re awesome! Expect to get wet basically the entire trip. Travel into the jungle on foot, stopping at pool after pool, while hitting some pretty good climbs. Definitely more challenging than I originally anticipated, and I’m in decent shape! Very rewarding and absolutely beautiful nature. THE LUNCH WAS ALSO INCREDIBLE. This is one I wouldn’t want to miss & highly recommend doing this if you have a day.

Guides were amazing! Knowledgeable, helpful and spoke both English and Espanol. They explain eco philosophy of CR, some plants(we ate a hydrating leaf) and helped guide use through the 10 waterfall experience. Then a soda(CR cuisine restaurant). Best guides we came across.
Great one of a kind experience!

I cannot say enough good things about this. It was definitely one of a kind experience. Climbing up next to the waterfalls and waddling in the pristine blue pools surrounded by so much lush green and beauty was just amazing!
I have a very adventurous, ready for everything 7 year old who could do this. But if your kids are scared of water or free climbing this might be a bit much for them.
That being said the three young men(guides) were very very helpful and took great care of my kid as he clambered up everything he could. The hike itself is not that bad but do take your water shoes.
The guides were in constant touch with us since we made our booking and answered all our questions in a thorough manner.
The trip ended with delicious fresh fruits atop the highest waterfall and we finished off with a delicious lunch at a family owned Soda. I recommend the fajitas. They were delicious!
Perfect way to spend a day!

This is a hike you don’t want to miss if you’re in Jaco and have time. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, the trails, and the culture of Costa Rica. He was extremely attentive and careful to help keep everyone safe.
There are rigorous aspects of this excursion. The first five falls are relatively easy-moderate. The last five require a little upper body strength and dexterity.
I suggest wearing a bathing suit with quick dry shorts and shirt that you can remove, carry a lightweight dry bag backpack, hat, bug spray, sunscreen, comfortable shoes that can get wet (loved having closed toed Keens. The guides wore lightweight sneakers. Some folks wore and did fine with tevas and chacos).
The hike is very close to town - not a long bus ride, which is great. The lunch afterwards is FANTASTIC!!
This is a beautiful and exhilarating adventure. Enjoy!
Much more than expected

Exceeded my expectations by tenfold, very fun and thrilling definitely bring water shoes and hiking shoes or boots along with swimming trunks and extra change of clothes if needed, Pura vida.
I also saved my dads life from almost falling down a 100 Ft clif so this is definitely a activity for the young and agile or anyone seeking a crazy adventure!
Unique and wonderful Waterfalls

October adventure and bomb food!

, Oct 2021
This was an awesome experience! Pablo was my guide for the day and he was very nice, professional, and informative about the habitat. It was so much fun jumping into and swimming the refreshing water pools. Great moderate hike up to all the waterfalls with plenty breaks. October is low tourist season so if you prefer smaller groups and feel like you have the place to yourself come then. Highly recommend Playa Hermosa Vacations! And to top it off Pablo’s mom’s restaurant provided us the best Costa Rican home cooked meal ever!! Check in and pick up point for the tour is in the centro of Jaco, small office next to Cafe Bohio. Nice comfortable shuttle van.

Dangerous in rainy season!
Cord_T
, Sep 2021
Our tour guide did a great job of trying to keep us safe, but didn't tell us anything about the medicinal plants, or really point out any of the wildlife. If that were the only thing, then this tour probably gets 4 stars. But trying to walk up a fast moving river with water coming directly from the mountains, in the rain, and the water comes up to your waist or at times even chest... This was no joke. We're young, active people, and we had another young built guy with us who was also shook at the end at how dangerous this tour was. Other tours like this doing similar activities would have helmets, and ways to secure the people. We literally were walking on slippery rocks without any security in the middle of a rushing waterfall. It doesn't matter what shoes you take, that's dangerous. I believe that in the rainy season, there's no way that families or elderly could ever do this hike. Even the swimming was a bit dangerous as the quick stream pushed us up against trees or sharp rocks. Any time the girl in our group crossed the river, she basically had to be hugged by the tour guide to get across (and there were around 50 crossings no joke!). If you book this tour, expect to spend 30% of the hike in the water! And we didn't see waterfalls 9 and 10 because the rain and the rushing river tore down the bridge... What makes a tour company think that humans on a medium hike would want to be in conditions like that?! Not a medium hike! If anything, extreme and dangerous, only for the adrenaline seekers. One of our group spent the next 2 days just recovering from the muscle aches that the "hike" produced. A person couldn't really enjoy the surroundings because they were too busy making sure not to be rushed away by the river. Even though our guide did his best to keep us happy, and the lunch was good (even though after all the stress it just made us sick), this is a tour we in the end regret going on. We can imagine that in the dry season the experience is very different and much better. We wish we were warned before hand, that the rainy season turns the hike into an adrenaline activity (which we wouldn't then have signed up for).

Awesome time

The hosts were very very knowledgeable and informative.. The trex up to see the 10 waterfalls is way more than a hike. You have to climb ropes and rocks and it is awesome for those who have the stamina my 10 and 11 year old boys loved it . The lunch was amazing I highly recommend highlights highlights of my stay in jaco
Way better than I expected

Pablo and Will were so patient and helpful for an older lady in our group with asthma who struggled with some of the technical aspects of ascending wet stones as we climbed from waterfall to waterfall. They truly served as great guides—friendly, encouraging, helpful, informative, and competent. They also encouraged a few seeking extra challenges along the way as we used ropes to climb up the sides of waterfalls (not required for the trip but available for those seeking more of a challenge). Eating at pablo’s mother’s soda was a huge bonus afterwards—great local food. The guides were sincerely caring snd endeared us more to the beautiful nature available during this experience.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
