The countryside to the coast. The warm clear turquoise waters. The friendly and helpful staff. Meeting new people.

We had a great time. We were fortunate enough to have a driver who was willing to share some of the Guna history with us. However, not all drivers are not like so do not expect it. The islands we visited were beautiful and the food was so fresh and delicious. Every island has something different to offer. It was like being on your own private beach for the day. I saw a sting ray, a baby shark, lots of starfish along with a baby sword fish and more. It is an experience we would recommend to others.

Beautiful but poor snorkeling
Terrence_N

Comfy drive. Driver spotted a Sloth and a toucan for us, drove well to minimize bumps. Islands were gorgeous and kayaks were fun. But snorkeling equipment didn't include fins, and reefs were poor - dead coral and few fish. Post-lunch island visit was canceled due to wi d and rain so we sat around at lunch site for 2-3 hours bored. They should have a backup activity for bad weather, or at least cards or board games or more fruit etc.

Terrance. Thanks so much for your review, and we will take in to consideration having a back up plan in case of rain. Also the bad wether limit us the area where you can snorkel safely, but we will take that part also into consideration! Thanks

My fiancée and I thoroughly enjoyed the actual island and surrounding water, we felt it was like having our own private island given the space away from other visitors on the tour, clear water and white sand. The second island left a bit to be desired, after lunch the island didn’t pose much to explore, the surrounding water wasn’t as freeing as San Blas, it would’ve been great to spend a bit more time on San Blas or the natural pool in lieu of the second island. The commute is certainly long but not unbearable. I did heed the warning of the reviews before me and took motion sickness meds just to be safe and it worked out well despite the rougher part of the car ride which includes a plethora of up & down and left and right as the driver avoids the numerous potholes etc. I’d place this beach in my top 10 of beaches visited for sure. If you’ve visited beaches in the Philippines & Hawaii, this beach comes in behind those as well as some in the Caribbean, but overall great beach and experience.

Stay for multiple days in San Blas!!
Tracy_G

Stunning crystal clear waters! The islands are peaceful and not crowded. When I go back, I plan to stay for multiple days. Pros: Peaceful, clean islands. we went to dog Island, pelican Island and two more whose names I forgot. Cons: Food is basic, and the guide’s English needs to improve. But who cares! you’re there for the amazing beaches, right? Also, while you can see some tropical fish, there were not many. Lastly, the road to the checkpoint into Guna territory is full of massive potholes. So if you get carsick, plan ahead and take Dramamine. Tip: you will get wet on the boat ride to the islands. So bring a proper dry bag to protect your valuables. Use 50+ sunblock or else you’ll get burned by the sun. Excursion provides snorkel gear and towels. Bring small bills to pay for island taxes and any snacks or drinks that you may want to purchase. Do forget your passport. You will need it to get into the Guna territory. If you stay for multiple days, manage your expectations as to the accommodations. They are rustic. Some are huts. But it is worth it to be in paradise !

The islands were insanely beautiful

We had a great driver who picked us up On time and reminded us to bring our passport. He was an aggressive driver but my bf and I felt safe. The driver said we had and hour of smooth driving and then and hour of a roller coaster. My bf puked on the roller coaster hour out the window we stopped he was okay and we kept going. The boat ride was very choppy we sat in the front of the small boat - which I don’t recommend, it was kind of scary for me. The islands were breathtaking. I recommend you eat some breakfast beforehand. The food was tasty and huge portion. I kayaked for the first time and it was so neat and easy! This trip was the highlight of our 7 day trip to Panama. Recommend it.

Arriving to the San Blas!
Jessie_F
, Mar 2020
This was a very interesting tour. The guide who initially picked us up was rude. So imagine being up during a vacation at 4 AM to be greeted rudely. The 3 hour ride and then a 40 minute boat ride erased all the nonsense from the morning. San Blas is literally paradise. Worth every penny! I suggest bringing snack, drinks. The food was not good for my liking. The fried fish was cold and paired with dry white rice. But again, with that being said it was worth it.
