Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Begin your ice-floating experience with pickup at your Rovanieni hotel; alternatively, meet up at the centrally-located tour office in town.

Board your tour transport and head out of town, bound for a frozen lake deep in the Finnish wilderness. Once you arrive, you'll be outfitted with a special dry suit that keeps you warm despite floating in near-freezing lake water. With the help of your buoyant dry suit, lie back and relax, floating among chunks of ice as you watch the Aurora Borealis flicker above. Being this far out in the open landscape, far from any light pollution, gives the best chance of seeing this natural phenomenon.

Climb out and warm up with a hot drink, then board your transportation and return to Rovaniemi.

Awesome Experience

This was awesome. The two young ladies who took us on this trip were just wonderful. Greta and Salla were both very knowledgeable and patient with our questions - as my mum put it - they were First Class. During the bus drive to the site, Greta explained (in a way we could all understand) how the aurora lights are formed, explaining they were a natural occurrence, so while she hoped we would see the lights - they could not guarantee it. When we arrived, half the group were suited up. I went in first and my mother went in the second group. We were guided all the way, on entering and exiting, as we lay there watching the skies - the aurora lights came out and blew us all away. They were amazing. Greta even said they were the best she had ever seen. This whole experience was fantastic and we cannot praise Greta and Salla enough. If you want an experience of a lifetime, I recommend doing the Northern Lights Ice-Floating Adventure in Rovaniemi. 100% Fantastic, Awesome, Incredible.
